I AM HERE, UM, TODAY INSTEAD OF LARRY FARHAT, HE'S ON VACATION.

JUST TO PROVIDE A QUICK UPDATE ON OUR PROGRESS ON RANGER STATION AND WHERE WE'RE AT AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE.

UM, I AM VERY VISUAL, SO I TOOK A COUPLE OF PICTURES THIS AFTERNOON JUST TO SHARE.

UM, OUR MAINTENANCE TEAM HAS BEEN DOING SOME FINE TOUCHES ON THE PARK, SO YOU'LL SEE RIGHT HERE IS A DOG WASTE STATION.

WE'VE GOT SOME SIGNAGE UP THAT HAS THE PARK HOURS.

AND LET ME GO.

I WANTED TO ZOOM IN.

THESE AREN'T EDITED, SO THEY'RE ALL QUICK.

UM, WE DO HAVE, BECAUSE WE, THERE'S A SOFT OPENING.

UM, SO WE DO HAVE AN A DA RESTROOM AND A REGULAR RESTROOM FOR ANY VISITORS CURRENTLY TO THE PARK.

THE STRUCTURES ARE NOT OPEN, BUT THE GRASS AREA, AND WE'VE BEEN SEEING A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE GRASS AND ON ON THE SHARED USE PASS AROUND.

SO THE PARKING'S ALL STRIPED A DA LET'S CONTINUE FORWARD.

SO THE GRASS IS DOING REALLY GOOD SO FAR WITH THE, UM, ARIZONA HEAT THAT WE'VE GOT.

IT'S REALLY NICE BLUEGRASS.

I'M GONNA GO BACK ON THIS ONE A LITTLE BIT.

THE TREES ARE FILLING IN NICELY.

UM, YOU CAN SEE SOME OF THE TREES THAT WE'VE PLANTED AND THAT ONE DIDN'T GET THE, UM, WE PLANTED SOME SYCAMORES RIGHT NEXT TO THE BARN, SO THOSE ARE COMING IN NICELY.

I KNOW I GOT ONE.

SO, AND WE PLANTED GRASS AROUND THE HOUSE FROM WHAT WE SALVAGED FROM THE PICKLEBALL COURTS AND IT LOOKS GORGEOUS.

AND, UM, LIKE I SAID, OUR STAFF, MAINTENANCE STAFF HAS BEEN ADDING ROCK IN THE OPEN AREA, SO IT'S GETTING A REALLY GOOD FINISHED LOOK RIGHT NOW.

YOU CAN SEE THE GRASS.

AND THEN, UM, I THINK IT WAS TWO MONTHS AGO, THE LIONS CLUB DONATED A APPLE TREE.

SO WE'VE GOT THREE APPLE TREES NOW OUT THERE, AND WE'VE GOT A NUMBER OF, UH, RESIDENTS THAT WOULD LIKE TO DONATE TREES AND BENCHES.

SO WE'RE LOOKING FOR THOSE LOCATIONS.

SO JUST ANOTHER LOOK AT SOME OF THE SIGNAGE.

SO IT'S, IT'S LOOKING REALLY NICE.

UM, UNFORTUNATELY THE PLACE STRUCTURES ARE STILL, UM, WE'VE BEEN, UH, FOLLOWING UP WITH THEM CONSISTENTLY.

WE'RE STILL LOOKING AT FALL FOR THE PLACE STRUCTURES TO BE PLACED.

WE ARE, UH, WORKING WITH THE SUPPLIER ON GETTING SOME OF THE MORE SOLID STRUCTURES, WHICH ARE LIKE A, A CHEST TABLE THAT'S CONCRETE AND, UM, CORNHOLE,

UH, TOSS SOME OTHER THINGS THAT ARE GONNA BE MOVING IN.

AND I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN OUT TO THE SITE LATELY OR LARRY'S SHOWN YOU, BUT WE'VE GOT THIS ROCK THAT YOU CAN LAY ON THAT'S PRETTY COOL.

UH, 'CAUSE IT'S LIKE A LOUNGE CHAIR.

BUT, UM, SO THINGS ARE MOVING FORWARD.

UM, THE PARK IS LOOKING GREAT.

THE UPDATE ON THE RESTROOM BUILDING IS THAT WE'VE GOT ABOUT 90% PLANS, BUT WE DON'T HAVE COLORS OR ANYTHING YET.

IT'S THE SAME, UM, LAYOUT THAT HAS BEEN PRESENTED TO YOU.

IT'S JUST SLOWLY MOVING FORWARD.

UM, WE HAVEN'T GOTTEN IT TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FOR THEIR REVIEW YET, BUT WE'RE STILL LOOKING AT STARTING THAT CONSTRUCTION FALL IS WHAT WE'RE SHOOTING FOR.

THE INTERIOR OF THE BARN IS, AND HOUSE IS MOVING FORWARD SLOWLY AS WELL.

UM, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE RAN INTO WAS THE ACCESS TO THE LOFT WHERE, UH, IT WASN'T MEETING CODE, I BELIEVE IS THE BEST USE.

UM, SO IN ORDER TO GET, UM, STAIRWAY UP, IT HAD TO HAVE A LANDING AND TURN BECAUSE OF THE PITCH OF THE ROOF.

AND SO THERE WASN'T ENOUGH HEADROOM.

SO THERE WAS, SO INSTEAD OF HOLDING THINGS UP AND TRYING TO WORK IT OUT AND, AND MINIMIZING THE IMPACT, WE'RE MOVING AHEAD WITH THE PROJECT SO THAT WAY WE CAN GET IT USABLE AND FIND OUT HOW PEOPLE WOULD LIKE TO USE THE SPACE.

AND IF PEOPLE SEE A NEED FOR THE LOFT, UM, WE CAN LOOK AT THAT AT A LATER DATE.

UM, RIGHT NOW, PARKS AND REC IS NOT SURE WHAT THEY WOULD USE THAT LAW FOR, BUT I THINK AS WE, UM, SEE HOW THE BUILDING IS USED, WE'LL WE'LL HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING AND CAN MAKE THOSE CHANGES.

BUT, UM, EVERYTHING IS LOOKING REALLY GOOD.

UM, NOTHING HAS CHANGED FROM THE WALL REMOVAL WE'RE, UM, MAINTAINING.

UM, WE'RE LOOKING AT POLISHING THE FLOOR NOW AND FINISHING THE FLOOR, WHICH I THINK WOULD BE REALLY GREAT.

AND, UM, WE'RE LOOKING AT REUSING SOME OF THE DOORS THAT WE SAVE THAT ARE IN THE BARN.

WE'RE GONNA USE THOSE IN THE INTERIOR.

AND, UM, SO THAT'S, I THINK, IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN THINK OF? UM, NO, BUT, UM, I WAS GONNA ASK, UH, IF ACTING CHAIR MEYERS MIGHT WANT TO, UH, NOW THAT I'M LOOKING AT THIS, IF WE WERE TO MOVE, UH, REGULAR BUSINESS ITEM D TO B, UH, AS SINCE SANDY WILL WILL BE HERE, MAYBE THAT'S, YEAH.

UM, I'VE BEEN DOING RESEARCH IN OTHER HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND LOOKING, EXCUSE ME, AT OUR OPTIONS.

SO IT'S NOT ANYTHING THAT'S OFF THE PLATE, IT'S JUST NOT SOMETHING THAT I CALL PHASE ONE RIGHT NOW.

UM, WE ARE DOING, UH, HEATING AND COOLING IN THE HOUSE THOUGH.

IT ALSO MEANS YOU NOW HAVE TO INSULATE AND WEATHER STRIP AND ALL THAT STUFF.

WELL, THAT IS PART OF THE REASON WHY SANDY AND HER TEAM HAVE BEEN BRINGING FORTH THE INTERIOR DRAWINGS TO HPC, UM, EVEN THOUGH THE, UH, THE SCOPE OF HPC IS, IS MORE ALONG THE LINES OF THE OUTSIDE OF THESE BUILDINGS, BUT WE DO UNDERSTAND THAT WHETHER IT'S OUTSIDE OR INSIDE HISTORY IS WHAT YOU GUYS ARE ALL ABOUT AND, AND WHAT WE SHOULD BE, UH, CELEBRATING, IF YOU WILL.

SO THAT IS A GOOD REASON AS TO WHY SHE AND HER TEAM ARE INCORPORATING HPC INTO THESE DISCUSSIONS.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS, UM, THAT THEY WERE CONCERNED ABOUT IS IT SEEMED LIKE SEVERAL OF THE CL GS, AND THERE ARE 30 OF THEM IN THE STATE, ARE WORKING ON REVISING AND UPDATING THEIR, UH, LAND USE CODES AND LAND DEVELOPMENT CODES.

AND, UH, SO THEY'VE BEEN WORKING, SHIPPO'S BEEN WORKING REALLY HARD TO REMIND THE CL GS, UH, USUALLY WITH A MODEL THAT THEY USE, UH, IN ORDER TO INCORPORATE THAT INTO THE NEW LAND DEVELOPMENT OR LAND USE CODE.

AND, UM, FOUND IT INTERESTING THAT ONE OF THE THINGS THEY'RE, THEY'RE REALLY WORKING ON HARD AT SHIPPO IS, UH, SERVICES THAT ARE AVAILABLE FROM SHIPPO.

UH, SO ANYWAY, ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE COMING UP.

AND, UM, AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE RECEIVED WAS THIS BINDER.

AND THE LAST THING THAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT JUST FOR A MINUTE, THAT, UH, THEY'RE REALLY TRYING TO GET THE, UH, INDIAN TRIBES, UH, INVOLVED IN HISTORIC PRESERVATION.

AND, UH, THE TRIBES HAVE A UNIQUE SITUATION IN THAT, UH, AND I KNOW THAT WE HAVE TALKED TO SOME OF THE, UH, THE YAVAPAI APACHES, UH, ABOUT, UM, SITES WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS, WHICH OF COURSE, THE TRIBES DO NOT WANT TO RELEASE BECAUSE THEY'RE SACRED SITES.

THEY COULD BE BURIAL SITES.

AND SO, UM, ALTHOUGH THEY APPRECIATED OUR INTEREST, UH, THAT, UH, YOU KNOW, WE WERE BASICALLY TURNED DOWN, AND OF COURSE, THAT'S WHAT WE FIND ALL OVER THE STATE.

UM, BUT I THINK A ZGO IS JUST FRANKLY NOT USER FRIENDLY.

AND, AND, UH, UNLESS YOU'VE GOT A, AN IT STAFF TO REALLY HELP YOU ALONG WITH IT, I DON'T SEE THE VALUE IN THAT, ESPECIALLY WHEN THERE'S A LOT OF OTHER, UM, OFF THE SHELF, EASY TO USE, UM, UH, PROGRAMS OUT THERE.

I JUST KIND OF TOOK IT MORE AS A LIST OF, UH, HERE'S WHERE TO GET MONEY FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION.

UM, THAT WAS WHEN, UM, YEARS AGO WHEN THEY DECIDED OR ACTUALLY, UM, PROPOSED TO TEAR DOWN THE, UH, VISITOR CENTER UP AT PAINTED DESERT.

THERE WERE CERTAIN PEOPLE WHO SAID, NO, WE NEED TO PRESERVE THIS THING.

AND THERE WERE NO FUNDS AVAILABLE TO DO IT.

AND SO THE TEAM THAT THEY PUT TOGETHER ACTUALLY SURVEYED A LOT OF THESE, AND THEY HAD ENOUGH MONEY COME TOGETHER TO WHERE THEY COULD ACTUALLY RENEW THAT CENTER TO MAKE IT LOOK JUST LIKE IT DID IN 1962.

AND, UH, AND IT WAS AN INCREDIBLE PROJECT AND VERY SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE OF OUTSIDE FUNDING.
